If an employee is absent from work for a brief period as a result of illness or injury, this benefit pays a regular weekly income equal to 66.7% of normal earnings to a maximum specified amount.

Payment can start as early as the 1st day of accident and 8th day of sickness and are usually payable for up to 17 weeks.
